I'm definitely working to gain a few converts...pardon the pun, but too often folks "lump" crab and shellfish with finfish when there is a world of variety and very different sweet and saline flavors to explore
Wow this sounds good! Have you had Korean spicy raw crab (Yangnyeom Gejang)? It uses another type of soft shell crab (blue crab). My mom is a huge fan of crab!
Thanks, @Kalee for the restack. Hope you give this a try!
I love soft shells and do plan to try the recipe. Thank you!
Oh we used to eat soft shell crab in New Orleans- I absolutely loved them! Never ventured to cook them- this looks amazing!
I had reservations about trying to prepare them at home until I found a good source where the fishmonger sells them pan-ready
Its been so long— Im actually craving them now!
I say go for it!!
I do live fennel as well!
Wow—sounds like perfection to me!
the fennel seed and thyme really work well together
Your descriptions make me hungry and I loved the video!
Simply FAB.
promise they are good!
Wow, I'm not a fan of seafood but this makes me want to try some!

Very enticing...I've had raw shrimp, but the crab you mention is yet undiscovered
Thank you Ellen for this interesting piece. Your crabs sound delicious.
thanks, Lisa...I suspect you must see them imported from Indonesia on your side of the world
They are certainly on menu’s in Asian restaurants, but where I live is mud crab central, so local tend to prefer these.
This looks amazing. My dad loved them. How appropriate that I read this in Father’s Day. 💕
I have fond memories of sharing these on special occasions with my father as well!
At the risk of being hyperbolic, this sounds like the perfect meal to me. As I was reading, I could feel my stomach and brain making dinner plans…
Tis the season...I hope you get those in the pan, Tim!
